Memorial Day – Helping Disabled Veterans Wipe Out Debts with Bankruptcy

Coming up on Memorial Day 2013, I was thinking about the many men and women who have given their lives to protect our country. More and more, I feel a growing concern for our former military members who may not have given their lives, but have sacrificed their mental, emotional and physical health in defense of America.

Many soldiers return home from overseas deployment to find that life is not how it used to be–and never will be. The effects of war linger on–sometimes for a lifetime. When you add financial stress into the equation, life can seem unbearable. I have known and been friends with many American soldiers in my adult life. I think it’s about time I do something to protect them, much as they were willing to protect me.

As a bankruptcy lawyer, I think I’m in a pretty good position to help former soldiers who are struggling in the money and debt department. Here’s what I want to do: For the next several months, I’m asking everyone I know to help me track down disabled American veterans who live in California and have financial problems. I would like to meet with them (in person or by phone) and talk with them about their bills and whether they have enough money to pay them. If it’s appropriate, I’ll recommend bankruptcy.

Here’s where I can really help though: I’ll file the bankruptcy case if they qualify–and won’t charge my usual attorney fee! They’ll just have to come up with the filing fee (right now it’s $306). I file bankruptcy cases throughout California, so if I need to travel outside the San Francisco Bay Area, we can talk about travel expenses. But the important thing is that disabled veterans who need to file for bankruptcy won’t have to come up with the couple of thousand dollars that I usually charge my clients.

So, if you know of a disabled veteran with money troubles in California, send them my direction and I’ll see if they qualify. My number is (510) 451-6200 or you can email me at veterans@pixlaw.com.

Hope you had a great Memorial Day 2013. Thanks to all our veterans, especially those who have given of their physical, mental and emotional healthy to protect the United States. God bless!
